upgrading my stereo (we need a general audio section)
« on: October 18, 2009, 06:15:52 PM »

ok theres no general section so ill just post this here.
My next mod is my gauge pod. after comes beefing up the stereo.... then back to the HP

but as of now i have the Bose 6spkr system that came with the car. it sounds ok but never gets real loud, and as i raise the volume it starts to sound flat.

initially i thought to rip out the speakers and everything. mike suggested throwing in an equalizer and a sub and it would make it sound sweet. i trust his judgment and am probably doing that to start at least

for a sub im thinking 2 10's, but as for brands wattages and all of that i have no clue... dont mess with car stereos enough to know what sounds good and whats just overpriced name brad $hit....

also if anyone knows a guy or does this work themselves PM me and we can work something out.

Torello can help you out as far as getting a good deal price wise. He either gets his stuff from Avenue Sound, or this audio place in Attea's Flea Market.

Between Dave T and myself we've got enough experience with car stereos and installations to do anything you need short of custom fiberglass enclosures. He's excellent at choosing good, solid, and very reasonably priced equipment, and designs each system to be failsafe, so you can't blow it up by turning it up too loud because he uses components that are properly rated for the application.

Me and him are both good at the install side of things, the detail-oriented careful-touch it takes to install and run wires so they don't get pinched or broken.

Dave shops around and knows some people so he gets good deals. He got my rear speakers for half-price and they're mid-level competition speakers. The fronts he got a great deal on too.

We can hook you up. Contact Dave. send him a PM or something.
